Morgana Cryptoria Summer 2013 Swatches

More Morgana Cryptoria swatches! I just got these in the mail this week, along with foundation samples (which I will share later). I really love this company and their owner is a pleasure to do business with, so I really enjoy sharing my MC stuff online. I hope these swatches and small descriptions are helpful.

Electryone lipbalm is amazing!!! Sadly, my camera just doesn't capture the true brightness of this balm. It's brighter than this in reality, possibly even brighter (at least as bright) than the popular “Countessa Fluorescent” by Lime Crime, but the color is a little different. It feels wonderful on my lips and the color looks great while lasting good.

Fallen Angel liquid lipstick (Discontinued)! This seems to have been a popular color, so I grabbed it on clearance. It has lots of sparkle! Just look at that in the corner of my lips! XD

Labyrinth liquid lipstick (Discontinued)! I also got this one on clearance. I think it looks like a darker and thicker version of Fallen Angel. Maybe I accidentally put too much on, but it's really thick and slightly sticky. And I don't know if I'd wear this color or not. But it's kind of cool, I think. Another one of those dark colors that are good for a Gothic look without being pure black (it's purple).

Aphrodite balm is beautiful! Again, my camera didn't capture the real color or it for some reason (it seems to not like pinks, I've noticed. :\ ). Here, it looks kind of nude, but it's actually more pink and powdery(?) in color? I don't know, but it's really pretty and I can wear it to work! Also, those purple streaks are from where I swatched Fallen Angel before this. :P

Chameleon balm is pretty cool. I like that the color is sort of metallic-looking and it's kind of minty in color. It feels good on the lips, but took several strokes to get it semi-opaque. I was wanting a lip color good to use for doing makeup of Kaya (Hime) from Schwarz Stein, and I think this might do well enough. :)

The balms are so wonderful I'll have to get more in the future, but I'm not sure if I'll get more of this collection's (Summer 2013 only) colors without seeing swatches first or not. I love that ¾ of them are so opaque, yet feel wonderful on my lips! Terrific product!
*The Hera lipbalm can be seen in my last post of Morgana Cryptoria swatches  here: http://blondegothic.blogspot.com/2013/06/morgana-cryptoria-spring-2013-swatches.html

Morgana Cryptoria Spring 2013 Swatches

Hello and thank you for viewing this blog! This post will be showing all of the lip products I have purchased from an Indie makeup company called Morgana Cryptoria (Morgana's Crypt). I am not being paid to do this and I paid for all of these products like any other customer. These are my honest opinions and none of these photos have been edited to distort the true looks of the products. However, some of these were swatched in a hurry and could probably been done a bit better (having to scrub lips over and over kind of effects color and texture very slightly, perhaps). However, the products' colors are still enough to give a pretty accurate idea of what they look like. I took multiple pictures of some of them to help show the colors more accurately.

Absinthe lipstick is lovely! A shimmering deep reptile-like green. There are better swatches out there, since mine fell and broke and is now more difficult to apply. ^^;

Arcana is BADLY represented here and so I will reswatch this one once I get a better sharpener. It is a lipstake that I am incredibly impressed with. I thought I was just getting a regular pencil that I would use to go underneath my Lime Crime “Hollygram” because I have issues with it staying on and covering, but to my surprise, I could have worn Arcana alone as a lipstick. It feels as creamy as a lipstick and covers as well. My lips were slightly damp and the lipstake wasn't sharpened well, so it didn't go on well this time. It looks similar to Absinthe in color, but not exactly.

Love Lies Bleeding lipstick. It is slightly orange, so it does not go well with my cool-toned skin. This was the sample.

Cathedral sample. I loved it so much I HAD to buy the full size. I just wanted to compare the sample with the full lipstick.

Cathedral lipstick full. It's a bit different from the sample, I guess because of the heavier application or being in a different place with different lighting. It is a great unique color for a Gothic look!

Ghouloss (Discontinued). Upclose it looks a little patchy because it is is a lipgloss gel, but far-off you do not notice it. I think it would be great for a cyber look.

Midnight Sapphire lipstick. I have tried both Manic Panic's “After Midnight” lipstick and Lime Crimes' “Loop de Loop” and I prefer this one on myself. It's a great Gothic and Mana cosplay color. It has some sparkle in it that's hard to capture. The eyeshadow is from the Etsy seller "Spectrum Cosmetics" in the color Ferric (I'll do a post on them later). A perfect match!

Night Sky lipstick. I like it because it's a dark Gothic color, but not as intense as black. I managed to catch a bit of the sparkle in this one! I think I will do an Art Cube (VK band) look and tutorial using this sometime.

Just Peachy lipstick. I was hoping for a nude, but it looks nude – light orange to me. Still lovely and I still plan to wear it.

Stormin' the Castle lip pan. It is slightly more blue than this in reality, but it still a bit grayish. It looks a little patchy here, but I think it's because of the lip brush I used and it's not noticeable from a distance. It is now being sold as a lip balm.

Lilly lip pan (Discontinued). This one did not show up well in the photos and I almost decided to not post it. It is a bit more pink in real life, a bit of a darkened but subtle pink. I think it would be perfect for a Gothic Lolita look. Although it is discontinued now, there are a few others on the site that I think would be very close in color.

Hera lip balm. This is from a line of lip balms only available for Summer 2013! I was very, very impressed with this product! It lasted several hours and through a meal and drinks without requiring a touch-up. The coverage was also surprisingly opaque. I hesitated to buy this color in this product because I had the assumption that it would be patchy and sheer because of it being a balm, but I was very wrong. It feels wonderful like a regular balm, but has the look of a lipstick. This is a MUST BUY! I also got mine scented as “cotton candy”, which is a strong, sweet, lovely scent. A good color for a Malice Mizer Mana cosplay?

Overall, I really like all of the products so far and will definitely continue being a costumer. Reasonable prices, great products, and great customer service. Most of their products are only available for a limited time, so be sure to check them out often!

Dada Alien Makeup Attempt

Intro: Hello and welcome to my blog! This is my first post, so I hope it turns out good. ^^; I wanted to try doing suggestions/ideas on doing Japanese Gothic and VK looks, so I decided to start with Dada of Velvet Eden. I'm also very, very nervous about showing myself publicly online. Anyway, here it is:

Dada Alien Makeup Attempt

Okay, I had to try this because Dada of Japanese darkwave band “Velvet Eden” is my favorite artist/musician/drag queen/celebrity EVER! I adore his makeup and style, too, so here is my attempt. I am NOT a makeup artist and am still learning how to do this stuff, so there are many mistakes and it is quite messy, but I hope it is still helpful. I hope to do a real cosplay of him someday~

I will update this post if I ever redo this with better results.

First, I put Lime Crime Eye Shadow Helper on my eyelid where I quickly afterward applied MakeUp Geek “Corrupt” eyeshadow there in the shape I felt was the most correct.

Afterward, I applied Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black around my lash lines.

Next, I drew the line above my natural crease with Revlon Color Stay Liquid Eye Pen (it looks like a marker) in black to make the fake crease. After that, I put the shadow helper in between the eyeshadow and fake crease, then covered it with MakeUp Geek “White Lies” eyeshadow. This caused me some problems, though. It faded the fake line and put white over the black eyeshadow, so I had to do some touching-up. I think next time I will put the white on before the fake crease to at least help a little with this.

At this point, fake eyelashes should probably be applied, but I do not own the correct ones yet, and I do not know how to apply them properly. Later in the post is a picture of me holding up some to show an idea of how they would look.

Now, I used concealer in Inquisitive Chausie from Meow Cosmetics over some areas, then applied Avon Smooth Minerals loose foundation in Soft Ivory (too dark for me; I'm currently trying many samples of many brands to try to find something I like better).

Next, I drew the shape of Dada's lips the best I could (it's messy, I'm sorry!) with Manic Panic Lip Locked Liner in Raven. I realized after I was finished with the look that I didn't get it high and rounded enough. I'll have to retry this later.

Afterward, I finished it off by using Lime Crime “Airborne Unicorn” lipstick over my lips like normally, then colored it over the skin inside the lip liner.

It should maybe look more extravagant than this, but it will not show up very much behind the glasses anyway. Here is an idea of how it would have looked with false lashes above (sorry, I am having trouble figuring out how to post this).

And finished!

I am not NEARLY as fabulous as Dada, but I can try! I want to do a real, proper cosplay of him after I get better at doing this.

Other products used:
Eco Tools brushes from “Six Piece Essential Eye Set” and “Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set”.
A Mary Kay retractable foundation brush
Fantasy Makers (Wet 'n Wild) fake lashes [held up in picture]
Spiderweb Sunglasses

What do you think? Was it helpful? And any suggestions on how I can improve?
